Job description
The Institute of Clinical Medicine has a vacant position as Professor or Associate Professor (depending on academic qualifications) of Molecular Medicine at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Division of Medicine and Laboratory Sciences, Department of Clinical Molecular Biology, Campus Akershus University Hospital. The position as Professor/Associate Professor (100%) may be combined with a part-time (20 %) position at Division of Medicine at Akershus University Hospital.
The Department of Clinical Molecular Biology (EpiGen), Division of Medicine and Laboratory Sciences at Akershus University Hospital, is a joint research facility between Akershus University Hospital and the University of Oslo, Faculty of Medicine. The goal of the Department is to perform research at the international research front that integrates high-quality basic and clinical/translational research. The Department has modern, well-equipped research laboratories for basic research, as well as for clinical molecular biology. Research in the Department is focused on areas of molecular medicine pertaining to the major age-related diseases, which is reflected in the strategic focus on healthy aging at Akershus University Hospital.

Qualifications and personal skills
We are searching an ambitious scientist who will establish his or her own research group.
The successful candidate should
- Hold an MD or have educational background from molecular biological sciences
- Hold a PhD or equivalent qualification in molecular biological sciences
- Have relevant experience within leadership and administration
- Have a research profile that will strengthen the Department's research within molecular mechanisms of common diseases.
- Be able to develop synergies between ongoing research in the Department and between basic, translational and clinical research in the Hospital.
- Have a strong track-record in peer-reviewed publications and attracting competitive funding
- Have strong networking skills and ability to initiate international collaborations that has an overall ambition to benefit patients.
High ambitions and quality of research, teaching and communications is expected. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create an attractive research and work environment will be emphasised. Active collaboration, also interdisciplinary and internationally is expected.
The successful applicant will have a plan for development of her/his research in a way that exploits the opportunities for translational research inherent in the large, unselected patient base at Akershus University Hospital.
Special requirements
Applicants who are not competent in Norwegian, Swedish or Danish must acquire such competence within two years subsequent to their appointment, and must be competent in English in the interim period.

- Educational portfolio of 3-6 pages documenting educational competence and experience, including a reflection note in which your own practice and learning vision is anchored in the SoTL criteria (focus on student learning, development over time, a research approach and a collegial attitude and practice)
- Description of qualifications regarding administration, leadership, teaching and foreign language skills
- Other relevant qualifications
- References (list of 2-3 persons with name, title, email and phone number)
